Geography
There are a number of reasons why Antarctica and the Arctic are such good topics to explore in geography. The National Curriculum suggests that during Key Stage 2 pupils will;
investigate a variety of people, places and environments at different scales
start to make links between different places in the world
find out how people affect the environment and how they are affected by it
carry out geographical enquiry both inside and outside the classroom
ask geographical questions
use geographical skills such as maps, atlases, aerial photographs and ICT.
All these factors can be addressed by exploring both Antarctica and the Arctic.
